What is the Point After Club?

The Point After Club is a community support clubhouse whose work promotes the clubhouse model of rehabilitation for adults with psychiatric disabilities. The program is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health and offers a safe place in which adults with Mental Illness are offered opportunities to develop or regain vocational and social skills.

What does the Point After Club offer its members?

  • Opportunities to be gainfully employed, to enjoy leisure time and social activities, and to get educational and housing support as needed.
  • A three-tier employment track--from transitional employment (TE) to supported employment to independent employment.
  • Opportunities to run the clubhouse daily, working alongside staff in such areas as clerical, housing, administration, food service, maintenance, etc. The clubhouse needs the active involvement of its members in order to operate each day.
  • Open 75 hours each week, 365 days per year.
  • A bi-lingual, bi-cultural environment that recognizes the unique demographic of the City of Lawrence and its neighboring communities.

About Rosie

As a mother raising 9 kids, working full time, and active in the community, Rose was an unselfish leader with a larger than life personality. Titles never impressed her. Once at a meeting where attendance was kept, she saw titles after peoples' names like MD, PHD, LSW. When the moderator saw VNP after Rose's name he asked her: "What does this mean?" She spoke without hesitation and said: "Very Nice Person".

Rosie's Legacy

Rose’s commitment to her family, the Point After Club, and the Lawrence, MA community was all about helping others empower themselves. In the last few weeks of her life, Rose expressed a sense of completion when she learned that PAC participants were actively attending City Hall meetings to advocate for the work that she had championed her entire life. Seeing adults with disabilities take positive steps towards making their community and their lives better was the greatest gift Rose could have received—and a tribute to her legacy.

Join Us For A Great Cause!

Inspired by the life and legacy of Rose T. Coppinger, ROCKN 4 ROSIE is a harbor cruise to help raise support for the Point After Club (PAC). Founded by Rose 25 years ago, PAC is a clubhouse that provides support services to adults with mental health disabilities. PAC is a program of MHRP Inc., a non-profit 501-C-3 agency.

All proceeds and gifts made through ROCKN 4 ROSIE will go to PAC's "Home of Our Own" project. After 25 years of service to the greater Lawrence, MA community, the PAC has outgrown its current location and is looking to purchase or renovate a building that they can proudly call their own.
